Fraser Valley Music Awards System

The Fraser Valley Music Awards are an annual Awards Event organized by CIVL Radio. The awards, now in their tenth year, are an initiative of CIVL Radio, the University of the Fraser Valley’s campus and community radio station, and were first hosted in July 2016 after a year-long grant project funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada.

Features

  • Event landing page

Serves as the central hub for all information related to the annual awards ceremony. Designed for easy navigation and accessibility, this page provides attendees, nominees, and fans with up-to-date details about the event.

  • Sign up module

A user-friendly form system that allows artists to easily register for eligibility in the Fraser Valley Music Awards. Designed with accessibility and clarity in mind, the module collects essential information such as artist or band name, contact details, genre, social media links, and sample tracks.

  • Voting module:

A secure and streamlined platform for FVMA judges to log in and cast their votes for nominated artists. Each judge receives login credentials to access a private form system where they can review nominee profiles, listen to submitted works, and score entries based on predetermined criteria.

Challenge:

CIVL Radio dreamed big: a super-powered system for the Fraser Valley Music Awards. They wanted to implement a comprehensive system to serve two primary functions:

Action:

Discotoast helped design the new site, and then built the new FVMA site on our Radio Fusion theme.

Result:

Now, with the streamlined system in place, artists can easily navigate to the dedicated sign-up module on the FVMA website. This user-friendly interface allows them to submit their applications, upload necessary materials, and provide all required information directly through the platform, eliminating the need for manual submissions or complex off-site processes.

Designated judges are granted secure login credentials, providing them with exclusive access to the voting module. Here, they can review submitted nominations, evaluate the artists based on predefined criteria, and cast their votes efficiently within the system, ensuring a transparent and organized judging process.
